Patrick Mahomes named 2018-19 NFL MVP & OPOY

In his first season starting all 16 games for the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes has put himself on the map. Mahomes did the unthinkable throwing for 50 touchdowns, 5,097 yards, and just 12 interceptions in his second season. While also completing 66 percent of his passes. Everyone took notice of his stellar season which is why he is this year’s NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.

Mahomes is the fourth-youngest MVP in NFL history to win the award. He is also the first Chiefs player to ever win an NFL MVP. He is also the second player in NFL history to throw for 50 touchdowns and over 5,000 yards with Peyton Manning being the first. Although, Mahomes is 13 years younger accomplishing this feat and far less tenured than Manning was at the time.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and an AFC Championship appearance where they fell to the New England Patriots. The Chiefs had the number one overall offense under the leadership of Mahomes. He and the Chiefs offense were the most entertaining watch all year. Mahomes made plays that were very Aaron Rodgers-like all year.

Mahomes’ stellar season put him in the conversation as one of the best young quarterbacks with the likes of Andrew Luck, Carson Wentz, and Jared Goff. A list he sits atop currently with all of his accomplishments besides what could possibly be a Super Bowl title for Goff.

However, this is only the beginning for what will hopefully be a storied career for Mahomes. Its a heck of a start, unlike anyone, has ever seen before. A start that could see many more similar accolades down the line.
