Los Angeles Rams take chilly matchup over Denver Broncos 23-20

The Los Angeles Rams had arguably their toughest matchup of the year in the form of the Denver Broncos. Weather conditions were chilling as temperatures were in the 20’s. There was snowfall before and during the game. However, despite the conditions the Rams still improve to 6-0 in their 23-20 victory.

This game was not the typical high scoring affair Rams games have been in the first five weeks. It was a more defensive matchup which was the expectation considering the conditions.

This is the first game of the season where the Rams did not score 30 points or more.  A unique circumstance considering they made five trips to the red-zone.

The Broncos defense put on an impressive showing all afternoon. They are the only team to sack Rams quarterback Jared Goff five times and consistently get pressure on him.

As a result, Goff did not play his best game. He was 14 of 28 for 201 yards and an interceptions. His passer rating was a 58.8.

Former Rams quarterback Case Keenum did play better than Goff. However, he did miss some key plays in moments the Broncos really needed him.

Keenum was 25 of 41 for 322 yards, two touchdowns and one interceptions. His passer rating was a 91.7. Emmanuel Sanders was his key playmaker with seven receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown.

However, no one had as great a game as Todd Gurley. Gurley had 28 carries for 208 yards, 7.4 yards per carry and 2 touchdowns. He also had two receptions for 17 yards.

His 208 rushing yards was a new career high for him. He is the first Rams player to have 200 rushing yards and two touchdowns since Marshall Faulk in 2001.

This win lifts the Rams to a 6-0 record for the first time since the 2001 season. This will drop the Broncos to 2-4.
